Historical Curling Resources
For those interested in the history of curling or for anyone who wishes to research an aspect of it, the following archive resources are available on-line at the links below. Most are from the Trust itself:
Virtual Museum – The web-based searchable collection cataloguing system which underlies the Trust’s Virtual Museum. See the Virtual Museum page for more information.
Curling Historical Archive – Here you can find everything from Scottish Curler magazine editions to Bob Cowan’s blog posts, and everything in between. A great, one-stop-shop for everything historical documentation.
Historical Curling Places – The website of the Historical Curling Places project team. It contains 3 maps of curling-related locations. Two are of places where curling was played in the past (one for Scotland, the other for the remainder of the British Isles) with background material on each place. The third map is of places where raw-material stone was obtained as well as places where it was turned into curling stones.
The Curling History Blog – This blog was initially created in 2008 by David B Smith and Bob Cowan. It has a fascinating and searchable array of over 250 articles on a wide variety of curling-related historical topics.
The Trust’s Youtube Channel – Over time the Trust has acquired many media items, such as VHS tapes, 16mm films and DVDs. These are progressively being digitized and made available via this link.

RCCC Annuals – These have been produced by the Royal Club every year since 1839. They contain a wealth of information on what went on during each curling season including the results of matches played, as well as listing all affiliated clubs and members. The link is to a folder containing searchable versions of each Annual.

Scottish Curler – This national monthly magazine was produced from 1954 to 2009. They comtain a wealth of infomation on what went on at both a local and national level. The link is to a folder containing searchable versions of each edition.

Your Curler – The Royal Club has produced this monthly on-line magazine since 2011. Searchable back copies can be found at this link.
